In a landmark moment for the chorus, Shades of Harmony took home first place in Division A at the Region 19 competition of Sweet Adelines International, marking their first-ever placement in competition—just in time to celebrate their 20th anniversary as a chartered chorus. Shades of Harmony, a dynamic and growing women’s barbershop chorus now 21 members strong, delivered a powerful performance that captivated both the judges and the audience.
Competing in Division A, which features small choruses of up to 25 members, the group earned top honors for their expressive musicality, technical precision, and undeniable spirit.
“This win is a dream come true,” said Lori Ludlum, musical director of Shades of Harmony. “As we celebrate two decades of harmony, friendship, and growth, this milestone is a beautiful affirmation of what our chorus is capable of.”
The celebration didn’t stop with the chorus results. Voices Carry Quartet, comprised of four Shades of Harmony members—Melissa Guzman, Deena Osmer-Sikoutris, Lauren Pluchino, and Wendy Lombardi—earned second place in the strongly competitive Quartet contest, adding to the chorus’s exciting weekend of accomplishments.
As the chorus reflects on 20 years of music and memories, the members are more inspired than ever to continue growing and sharing their sound. Shades of Harmony rehearses every Tuesday in Williamstown and welcomes women of all ages who love to sing and are ready to find their voice in harmony.
