Vineland’s Chestnut Avenue improvement project continues to move ahead as the city advances design and planning for this major infrastructure investment. The project will improve safety, traffic, flow, and accessibility along the corridor between Delsea Drive and Main Road.
Plan improvements include converting the existing roadway into a four-lane thoroughfare with a center two-way left turn lane between Southeast Boulevard and Seventh Street, and a 12-foot-wide left turn lane at most existing signalized intersections.
The project will include pavement, rehabilitation, upgraded signage and pavement markings, traffic, signal improvements, and drainage upgrades.
To improve connections for pedestrians and bicyclists an eight-foot shared youth path will be constructed along the north side of the street and a five-foot sidewalk will be added along the south side.
“Maintaining and improving our infrastructure is essential to keeping violence, safe, accessible, and prepared for the future, “said mayor Anthony Fanucci.
“The Chestnut Avenue improvement project will provide long-term benefits for residents. Businesses, and everyone who travels through this important corridor.”
Design is expected to be completed by the end of this year, with a completion date anticipated no later than the end of 2028.
