NJHealth Hospice and Palliative Care is proud to recognize four dedicated team members as recipients of its 2026 Champion of the Year Award, an annual honor celebrating employees who go above and beyond in service to patients, families, colleagues, and the South Jersey communities the organization serves.
This year’s honorees are Janice McMahon, RN, patient care support; Giselle Moreno, program coordinator; Sara Offenbacker, program coordinator; and Megan Wilent, LPN, admission manager. Together, they represent compassion, teamwork, and commitment at the heart of NJHealth’s hospice and palliative care mission.
“Each of these women reflects the very best of NJHealth,” said Suzanne Martinelli, CEO of NJHealth Hospice and Palliative Care. “Their compassion, professionalism, and willingness to help wherever needed make a lasting impact on our patients, families, referral partners, and team.”
McMahon, of Millville, has long felt called to hospice nursing. As a semi-retired RN, she continues to support patients, families, and colleagues through special projects and daily acts of care, bringing experience, calm, and compassion to those around her. She says that helping others with comfort, dignity, and grace is what nursing is all about, and her continued service reflects a deep dedication to the hospice mission.
Moreno, of Vineland, brings a servant’s heart to her work, helping coordinate home health aide schedules, ordering equipment and supplies, assisting with technology needs, and supporting spiritual care efforts. A former home health aide who is now also a spiritual care coordinator, she understands the importance of meeting both practical and emotional needs. She says hospice is rewarding because it allows families and patients to know they are not alone, and her work reflects that commitment every day.
Offenbacker, of Woodbury Heights, is often one of the first warm voices families hear when connecting with NJHealth. In her role as program coordinator, she brings both administrative knowledge and hands-on caregiving experience to each interaction, helping families navigate questions, services, and next steps with reassurance. Known for her steady presence, knowledge, and kindness, she helps families feel supported during some of life’s most meaningful and difficult moments.
Wilent, of Linwood, oversees the admissions process, coordinates schedules for Licensed Practical Nurses, and helps ensure patients and families receive timely, compassionate care from the very beginning of their hospice journey. A graduate of Atlantic County Institute of Technology’s Licensed Practical Nursing program, she has held several hospice care roles, giving her a broad understanding of patient needs and team coordination. She credits NJHealth’s teamwork and patient-centered approach for making a difference for families during important transitions in care.
The Champion of the Year Award recognizes team members who demonstrate exceptional dedication to NJHealth’s mission of providing individualized hospice and palliative care with compassion, dignity, and respect to the residents of South Jersey.
