Three Senior Students Impress Women at Club

At a recent meeting of the Millville Woman’s Club (MWC), Millville High School senior Sasha Torres sang “The Star Spangled Banner.” Luncheon followed and Pam McNamee, MWC club president, thanked Louise Jones, MWC 3rd vice president, who hosted the meal.

Donna Pio, MWC Education Committee, introduced three Millville High School (MHS) seniors and each shared a bit about herself. Sasha Torres was one of these students. She is a member of the National Honor Society, is on the Principal’s List (2021-2024) and received Music Award of Honor (2021-2024), NJ All State Choir Honor Pin (2022-2024), Award of Community Service and Student of the Month (2023). She participates in Millville High School Madrigals, Chamber Choir, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Fall and Spring Theater, Lakeside Theater Student Leadership, Lakeside Concert Help as well as All County Band, NJ All South Jersey Choir and NJ All State Choir. In addition to her music, Sasha’s studies have included AP and honors classes. Sasha plans to pursue a degree in Music Performance and continue her musical career and education as far as she can.

Isabella DeFelice is a member of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Academic Varsity (2021-2023 and hoping for 2024) and is one of top ten students in her class based on GPA. Isabella is in MHS Marching Band, Madrigals, Chamber Choir, Symphonic Band and Theater Program. Her studies include AP and Honors classes. Isabella plans to attend a four-year university majoring in Psychology or Music Therapy while working to enter a graduate school in Occupational Therapy.

Evelyn Nelsen is a member of the National Honor Society and is currently the President. She is a member of the Academic Team, Leaders Club, Mock Trial, Model Congress and MHS Marching Band Colorguard. She has received Academic Letters (2022-23), Marching Band Varsity Letter, Vincent J. Apruzzese Certificate of Honor, ALA Jersey Girl’s State and Miss Holly City People’s Choice Award. Evelyn has been involved with AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and is currently an AVID Ambassador. Evelyn plans to enter a four-year college or university and possibly major in Pre-law and Criminology.
MWC members were impressed by these young women’s accomplishments and wish them well as they pursue their careers.

Pam introduced Amy Maines, the club’s 2nd vice president, who gave a presentation regarding her hobby of constructing miniature dollhouses. She had many of these on display and explained how she made these tiny structures, usually using items that she already had at home. She explained that she became quite involved in the hobby during COVID. Club members appreciated Amy’s informative talk and enjoyed looking at the dollhouses on display.
