The Millville Historical Society (MHS)invites you to view their exhibit honoring the young men of our city who gave “the last full measure of devotion” during the Vietnam War. The exhibit will include a biographical sketch of each Millville casualty; maps of Laos and Vietnam pointing out the casualty province of each of Millville’s young men; and primary source materials including newspaper articles, photographs, yearbooks, church records, gravesites and various government records.

A separate file with all the discovered research materials for each of Millville’s lost men will be available at the MHS’s Research Library for future generations to access.

Photographs taken by the late Dale Wettstein, who served in Vietnam in 1965-66, will be on display. Dale served with the 525th Military Intelligence Group in a three-man photo team in combat intelligence activities. His tour of duty included Nahtrang, Vungtau, and Saigon.

Various Vietnam War-era artifacts and uniforms for this exhibit are being loaned to the Millville Historical Society by the Millville Army Air Field Museum. An additional section of the display will highlight the Millville Jaycees’ support of the local troops during the war and their efforts to raise the funds for Millville’s Vietnam War Memorial.

The exhibit will debut at the Millville Historical Society’s Headquarters and Genealogical Library, located at 200 E. Main Street, during Millville’s Third Friday event on May 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. It will continue from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, and will be open daily from 1 to 4 p.m. through Memorial Day.
