On Friday, September 27, the Vineland Historical and Antiquarian Society (VHAS) welcomed an audience of Vineland High School History Committee students to watch history being re-enacted. Women from the community cast their votes for women’s equality, mirroring an event when 172 Vineland women voted in the 1868 Presidential election at Plum Street Hall.
Several of the women attending Friday’s event portrayed specific Vineland suffragists who voted in 1868, with each telling her story to the students, along with messages to stand for what they believe in and to continue the fight for freedom and equality.
