Registration for the Healthy Kids Running Series (HKRS) is now open. HKRS is a national inclusive and youth running experience inspiring kids ages 2-14 to believe in themselves and lead an active healthy lifestyle. The five-week in-person spring series will begin April 27 at Vineland High School, 2880 E. Chestnut Avenue.

The series will offer age-appropriate running events for kids in pre-K through eighth grade, including the 50- and 75-yard dashes, quarter-mile, half-mile, and one-mile runs. Races will take place on Sundays at 4 pm. Participants will race in their respective divisions, challenge themselves to improve each week, and receive points based on how they finish for the quarter-mile races and up.

Parents can register their kids and learn more at HealthyKidsRunningSeries.org. Early bird series registration costs are $48.70 per child and increases to $54 three weeks before the race. Each runner receives race bibs for each week, a runner shirt, and finisher medals. Top finishers from each competitive division will also receive a trophy at the end of the series.

Single-day race registration is also available one hour prior to the start of each race at $22, which covers one single race on that day and a runner shirt while supplies last.

“It’s a fun way to get our kids up and moving this spring season,” HKRS Community Coordinator Krissy DeStefano says, “and to honor our ultimate goal of teaching children how to be active and healthy while creating meaningful relationships within our community. The program is designed to introduce kids to running in a positive way. It’s a safe and friendly environment for kids to become interested in staying healthy and active.”
