Members of the Millville Historical Society remember and are looking forward to the 250th anniversary next year. Many commemoratives were produced leading up to the 1976 Bicentennial and the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

In 1975, reporter Gail Bronson wrote in the Wall Street Journal, “The buy-centennial has begun.”

With grant funding from the Cumberland County Cultural and Heritage Commission, the Millville Historical Society will host a special presentation by Kathryn Saxton-Granato, program specialist with South Jersey Curations LLC. It will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 at the Wood Mansion, located at 821 Columbia Avenue. The program highlights the preparations and celebrations of the Bicentennial, with a focus on Millville’s activities. More than 40 examples of Bicentennial Era Commemoratives will be displayed, and attendees will be encouraged to share their own memories and experiences.

The Millville Historical Society is a Proud Partner of RevolutionNJ. Prior to the presentation, the Historical Society will hold its Annual Members Meeting at 1:30 p.m.

Light refreshments will be served. Parking is behind the Mansion and is accessible from Church Street. The event is free and open to the public. Donations are welcomed.
