Winslow Township sophomore Jasmine Jackson was celebrated for her athletic achievements with a police escort while riding aboard a fire truck during a parade through Sicklerville on June 26.
The celebration began at Winslow Township Elementary School No. 3 and continued along Sicklerville Road to Chews Landing Road before returning to the school parking lot.
A bright green banner was draped across the fire truck, bearing her name and recognizing Jackson as the New Balance Nationals 100-meter hurdles champion from her June 21 meet. She also holds the New Jersey state record in the event with a time of 13.04 seconds.
Jackson also won the PR Brooks Invitational 100-meter hurdles race in 2026, along with numerous other indoor and outdoor state competitions.
Many of Jackson’s family members and classmates attended the event to show their support for the rising star. Local podcaster Winslow Joe highlighted the celebration and shared video footage on social media. Attendees also posed for photos in front of the fire truck during the event.
In addition to excelling in athletics, Jackson also performs exceptionally well academically, maintaining a 4.1 grade point average. She said several colleges have already contacted her to express interest.
“The classroom can be hard, but you know, you have to get your work done because without academics, athletics can’t really happen,” Jackson said. “So just stay locked in and do your work.”
With so much accomplished at such a young age, Jackson continues to strive for excellence as she plans for her future.
“Some goals are definitely getting to college for free and competing at the collegiate level, possibly winning an NCAA championship,” she said.
She added, “The Olympics is definitely one of my main goals, along with running professionally and continuing to run for as long as I can.”
Jackson encourages other teens who are interested in becoming athletes to believe in themselves.
“I feel like if you truly believe in yourself, no door can stay locked. You can unlock any door with just that,” she said.
She said she is grateful to be celebrated in such a meaningful way and appreciates the support shown by the community.
“I just want to thank the Board of Education and everybody who allowed this to happen. Thank you for the recognition,” Jackson said.
