Gloucester Township residents can now save on electricity costs through the community Solar Program, which allows households to benefit from locally generated solar power without installing rooftop panels.

Gloucester Township residents now have a new way to cut rising electricity costs, thanks to the launch of the Community Solar Program in partnership with Solar Landscape.

Mayor David R. Mayer, members of Township Council, and representatives from Solar Landscape officially rolled out the initiative on Wednesday, Aug. 20, highlighting the program as an optional but impactful way for residents to save money without installing rooftop solar panels.

“With community solar, there’s no risk and no cost to get started — and the savings can help make a real difference for our residents,” Mayer said.

The program – part of New Jersey’s Community Solar Energy Program – allows residents to subscribe to locally generated solar energy from commercial warehouse rooftops developed by Solar Landscape. Subscribers will receive a guaranteed minimum of 15% savings on the value of solar credits applied to their monthly electric bills.

Unlike traditional rooftop systems, community solar does not require panels to be installed on individual homes. There are no enrollment fees, and participants are not locked into long-term commitments. The program guarantees at least a 15% discount on solar credits for 20 years, and it can be combined with state and federal energy assistance programs to provide even greater savings. Priority enrollment is available for low- to moderate-income households, and space in the program will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The program is open to all residents, regardless of income level or whether they rent or own their home, Mayer said.

To enroll, residents can visit solarlandscape.com/NJ/GLOTWP or call 732-589-7529. A PSE&G or Atlantic City Electric account/service number is required to complete enrollment.
