County libraries to celebrate Black History Month

The Camden County Library System is once again celebrating Black History Month in February with a lineup of workshops, artistic activities and educational programs.

The month is an opportunity to honor the contributions of Black Americans and deepen understanding of their culture and history, offering something for all ages.

“Black History Month is a wonderful celebration of the contributions that Black Americans have made to our communities,” said Commissioner Jonathan Young. “The library’s programming offers a mix of educational, artistic and social activities that center around the Black community and its rich history.

” I encourage everyone to join us for a month full of learning and honoring Black History Month at the Camden County Library.”

The library’s branches have planned events for families, children and adults, such as storytelling programs, arts workshops and genealogy sessions. The Merchantville library hosted a session called the Passion and Pride of the Peter Mott House Underground Railroad Museum on Feb. 1. A Waist and Beads workshop with Latasha Waters, of the Queen’s Storehouse in Camden, also took place on Feb. 1 at the Nilsa I. Cruz-Perez branch:
