Camden County Library System cardholders will be able to enjoy expanded access to books and materials beginning this month through a new reciprocal borrowing agreement with the library systems in Gloucester, Burlington and Atlantic counties.
The agreement allows Camden County residents in good standing to sign up for library cards in those counties at no cost, significantly broadening the range of available resources. Officials say the partnership strengthens libraries across South Jersey while making it easier for residents to access materials close to where they live, work, or attend school.
“Libraries are the heart of our communities, and this partnership helps to strengthen libraries throughout our area,” said Commissioner Jennifer Fleisher, liaison to the Camden County Library System. “We’re excited to offer this program to our residents, giving them access to thousands more books and resources at no additional cost.”
The agreement builds on a successful reciprocal borrowing pilot program launched in 2024 that included Camden and Burlington counties, along with several counties in North Jersey. Under the new expansion, Camden County residents may obtain library cards from participating systems to borrow physical items such as books and media.
Access to certain services – including eBooks, digital streaming platforms, museum passes and technology lending – may vary depending on each library system’s policies.
Linda Devlin, director of the Camden County Library System, emphasized the importance of regional collaboration.
“Partnering with our neighboring counties was the clear next step in expanding access to library resources,” she explained. “Our community’s needs do not stop at the county line, and by sharing resources, we are strengthening equitable access to library services for all.”
The reciprocal borrowing program took effect on Jan. 1. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free and easy registration process.
