As commencement started on Thursday, June 18th, the Class of 2026 lined the track, as Delran High School faculty members and staff entered the “main event” of the school year. Their cheers reverberated throughout the field as the celebration began.
The themes surrounding the 231 graduates in this year’s class were both nostalgia and excitement. As shared by graduating senior, Harper White, in the senior reflection, “Today marks the beginning of the long and meaningful lives each of us will create beyond the walls of DHS.”
The meaningful experiences that have taken place throughout the last four years have shaped who the leadership, empathy, and character present in the student body, as noted by Superintendent, Dr. Lisa Della Vecchia.
Salutatorian Aiden Moskowitz echoed this point: “What unites us here today is a celebration. Not only a celebration of four years of hard work. Not only a celebration of the start to a new chapter in our future. But a celebration of the outstanding young men and women we have become.”
The future paths of college, the workforce, or trade school will be a brand new experience, and the uncertainty brings excitement for what comes next. Valedictorian Vidhi Patel noted, “For most of our lives, we’ve been moving through the same routines, the same hallways, the same schedules, the same familiar faces. Even when a day felt stressful or unpredictable, there was always something already waiting for us next. Another school year, another beginning already planned. However, tonight changes the direction of our lives.”
The diligent work accomplished by this class was celebrated by Class President, Madelyn Conrad. “We all have the potential to be great and successful. You just need to try your best.”
Whatever their best may be, the Delran community clearly celebrates its newest graduates, as witnessed by DHS principal, Brian Stolarick. “The unity of those thirteen years [of education] was evident today when these students participated in the clap out at Millbridge, DIS, and Delran Middle School. The smiles, laughter, and tears were evident as the former teachers, administrators, and support personnel paused for a moment of pride, just like our parents and families are feeling and will continue to feel in a couple moments.”
The community has rallied behind these students and will continue to do so, regardless of what comes next!
