New Jersey State Police will host a Bike Rodeo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Indian Mills Memorial school, 295 Indian Mills Road, Shamong. Through June 30

To celebrate his June birthday, State. Sen. Troy Singleton is collecting “Birthday Cake Kit” donations including boxed cake mix, frosting cans or mixes, birthday candles, party decorations, disposable cake tins and balloons. Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the senator’s office located at 400 N Church Street, Suite 260, Moorestown. Items can be dropped off in the designated bin in the lobby. The drive will support Generation Family Success Center’s Birthday Program, which provides free birthday kits to families in need so every child can feel celebrated on their birthday. 

Saturday, July 12

Southampton Township Fireworks Festival will be held at 6 p.m., Red Lion Recreation Park, 458 Red Lion Road. There will be live music, family fun and food trucks. Fireworks at dusk. Rain date is July 13.

Atsion tours

Come see one of the most significant examples of Greek Revival architecture in South Jersey! Never “modernized” with plumbing or electricity, the house stands largely as it did when it was constructed in 1826. Tours are Fridays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 1 and 2 p.m., 45-55 minutes long and begin outside between the mansion and office, 744 US 206, Shamong.

Through June 5 – The spray operation is expected to begin for the Gypsy Moth Control Program from 5:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. No pesticide application will take place between 8-9 a.m. The Shamong Municipal Clerk may be reached at (609) 268-2377 ext. 301 for questions.

The Indian Mills Volunteer Fire Company serving Shamong Township, is currently conducting a sneaker recycling program. Partnering with Got Sneakers!, they will collect and recycle used sneakers and athletic shoes, and return a small donation per pair to the local fire company.

The program is fairly simple. Collect your used sneakers or athletic shoes (must be a matched pair) and drop them off at one of the following collection sites:

  • Indian Mills Volunteer Fire Company, 48 Willow Grove Road (lobby open 24/7).
  • Shamong Township Municipal Building 105 Willow Grove Road (outside the tax collector window.
  • Indian Mills Memorial School 295 Indian Mills Road (front lobby, please refer to the school newsletter for details).
  • Indian Mills Elementary School 112 Indian Mills Road (front lobby, please refer to the school newsletter for details).
  • 3DPT Physical Therapy in the Upper Crust Pizza/Wallers shopping area.

The Fire Company will handle the logistics of getting the sneakers to Got Sneakers!, who will handle recycling and will send a small donation back to the fire company for all qualifying pairs.
