On behalf of the entire staff at the Harrison Township Wastewater Plant in Mullica Hill, its superintendent, William Stoms, has extended his gratitude to firefighters who responded to a blaze at the facility on the night of Aug. 4.

“What began as a dangerous roof fire could have escalated into a catastrophic event without the swift, professional, and highly effective intervention of our local and neighboring fire departments. The seamless coordination and bravery we witnessed were truly remarkable,” he said.

Stoms extended “an immense debt of gratitude” to the following:

  • Harrison Township Fire Department
  • Gloucester County Fire Marshal’s Office
  • East Greenwich Fire Department
  • Woolwich Fire Department
  • Pitman Fire Department
  • Mantua Fire Department
  • Glassboro Fire Department

“This powerful display of mutual aid is a testament to the incredible spirit of cooperation and dedication that defines our emergency services,” Stoms noted. “Their collective efforts not only saved our facility from further damage but also ensured the safety of our personnel and the surrounding community. We are incredibly relieved and thankful to report that no one was injured.

“While we assess the damage and begin the recovery process,” he added, “we want to assure the residents of Harrison Township of our commitment to maintaining our essential services. To the men and women of these fine departments, you are true heroes.

“Your professionalism and courage under pressure do not go unnoticed, and you have the heartfelt thanks of every single one of us at the Harrison Township Wastewater Plant.”
