The Harrison Township Recreation Commission has announced that Lights on Main will take place along Main Street in Mullica Hill from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30. Rain date will be the following day.

Mullica Hill expects the event to be the largest township-hosted gathering of the year. According to Recreation Coordinator Sharon Chew, it is expected to draw about 10,000 people to kick off the holiday season.

“It brings families from within Mullica Hill and surrounding areas together to welcome the holiday season,” she said of Lights on Main. “Each year, we try to add something special to it.”

Several businesses will host specials to celebrate the occasion. All of Main Street will also be lined with attractions and other activities, then lit with Christmas lights. Chew likens it to a “Hallmark movie come to life.”

Among the participating businesses will be the Twinkle Holiday Shop, whose local crafters will gather to talk with event attendees, host giveaways and hand out holiday-themed items. Two stages – one large, one small – will be set up for a variety of performances, including local band The Company.

Attendees can also go on horse- carriage rides and take holiday selfies with friends and families at the Elfie Selfie Stop. Santa will also be on hand. The main event at Lights on Main will be the lighting of the holiday tree at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Old Town Hall Museum, where Mayor Louis Manzo and Inspira Health CEO Amy Mansue will do the honors.

Inspira is the primary sponsor for the event. Others include the law office of Brian J. Duffield, OKKA Karate, Mathnasium, Romano Realty, Marino’s of Mullica Hill, Remington & Vernick Engineers, Dunkin, SJ/Harrison Heat, Ammon’s ShopRite of Mullica Hill and the Harrison Township Fire District.

Free shuttle busing will be available open for the duration of the event on the north and south ends of Main Street.
