McNulty reported that the township has received a grant from the NJDOT worth $204,462 to improve Sherwin Road. He also revealed that the contractor who will make High Street pavement repairs was given the go-ahead to proceed.

“They intended to get out there early next week, right before Thanksgiving,” said McNulty. “But given the holidays and everything, it’s most likely to start the week after the holiday. But being that the weather has been good, they should be able to get in and out of there fairly quickly.”

The High Street project is expected to last no more than two days, during which one lane of traffic will remain open.

Chambers notified the committee that work on the new and improved playground at Ella Harris Park is expected to start Thanksgiving week. There were initial concerns that the anticipated project would have to be postponed until spring, due to weather issues affecting surfacing installation that has to be at an ideal temperature to be installed properly.

“I had a couple conversations with the contractor about the weather pattern,” Chambers explained. “They said that they were comfortable with the temperatures at this point. I raised the concern last week that what if gets cold enough to where it requires a certain temperature to be put in? But they feel like they’re ok. But if not, they will put up security fencing around the area so it cannot be used over the winter and somebody could get hurt.”

Another project on tap is the installation of a dog park at William Wilt Soccer Complex. That work is expected to begin on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

The projects described at the committee session are expected to be done in about three to four days, according to Chambers.

“I don’t see it being much longer than a week …”

The next committee meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2.
