Mayor addresses intersection danger

I’m writing to share an urgent and ongoing concern regarding the intersection at Clems Run and Ellis Mill Road. This dangerous intersection has been the site of far too many accidents, including a fatal one recently.

Despite our repeated requests for action, Gloucester County – which controls the roadway – consistently relied on traffic studies to deny any need for changes to the traffic pattern or additional signage. These studies may meet statistical thresholds, but they fail to account for the real-life danger this intersection poses to our residents every day.

Following the most recent incident, I personally reached out to Commissioner Matthew Weng, asking the county to stop hiding behind statistics and to apply common sense to an issue that is costing lives. We need improved signage, enhanced safety measures and meaningful action to prevent further tragedy.

I’m pleased to report that the county is expediting this issue to determine if a four-way stop or a traffic signal is the appropriate solution.

Thank you for your continued support and concern for our community.
