As the Harrison Township Committee approached this year’s municipal budget, our priority was clear: put our residents and taxpayers first.

We recognize the financial pressures families have faced in recent years, rising grocery bills, increasing utility costs and continued economic uncertainty. That’s why, from the outset, my fellow committee members and I joined together in making it our top goal to deliver relief wherever possible.

I’m proud to share that we’ve achieved something truly remarkable: a local municipal-tax decrease for township residents. Through disciplined planning and responsible spending, we’ve reversed the trend of ongoing tax increases that have burdened residents across New Jersey. The reduction applies specifically to the portion of your tax bill controlled by the township, separate from the county and state portions.

A decrease of this kind is rare and, to our knowledge, unprecedented in Harrison Township. It was made possible by a shared commitment to sound fiscal management and the tireless efforts of our team. I want to extend special thanks to our Chief Financial Officer, Shawn Glynn, and our Business Administrator, Dennis Chambers, whose expertise and dedication were essential to this achievement.

Looking ahead, the committee is taking a deeper dive into the township’s long-term financial outlook. With a full fiscal year before us, we will be exploring alternative revenue options – including the potential sale of township-owned land – to continue supporting essential services without increasing the burden on taxpayers.

As we begin shaping the 2026 budget, the committee is proud to designate it the year of the employee. While our workforce has always been a top priority, 2026 will mark a renewed and focused investment in the people who keep our town running safely and efficiently: our police and fire departments, public works team and municipal staff. These dedicated professionals are the backbone of our community.

We remain committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility and making thoughtful, resident-focused decisions on behalf of everyone who calls Harrison Township home. Thank you for your continued trust as we work together to build a stronger, more sustainable future.
