Joe Bakey was sworn in for a three-year term as a fire commissioner at the Board of Fire Commissioners March 12 meeting, replacing longtime public servant Larry Crane Sr.

Crane has served the fire district in a number of positions. He was a member and officer in the Ewan Fire Company, as well as a member and officer in Harmony Fire Company. Crane was also a member and officer of Harmony Ambulance and Harrison Township EMS. He served as the membership secretary of the Gloucester County Fire Chiefs Association and was on his second term as a fire commissioner.

“End of an era and the beginning of a new one,” the fire district noted on Facebook. “All the members and officers, past and present, of the fire district thank Larry for his dedicated service to Harrison Township and wish him well.”
