Joe Bakey was sworn in for a three-year term as a fire commissioner at the Board of Fire Commissioners March 12 meeting, replacing longtime public servant Larry Crane Sr.

Crane has served the fire district in a number of positions. He was a member and officer in the Ewan Fire Company, as well as a member and officer in Harmony Fire Company. Crane was also a member and officer of Harmony Ambulance and Harrison Township EMS. He served as the membership secretary of the Gloucester County Fire Chiefs Association and was on his second term as a fire commissioner.
