The Harrison Township Recreation Commission is partnering with Wolf Fitness for an outdoor wellness series – a first for the former – during May.
The Harrison Township Recreation Commission and Wolf Fitness in Mullica Hill will host their first Outdoor Wellness Series all next month at Ella Harris Park.
Among activities will be tai chi and yoga classes. Tai chi will take place on Tuesdays, May 5, 12, 19 and 26, at 1 p.m. Yoga is scheduled for Thursdays, May 7, 14, 21 and 28, at 1 p.m. The sessions will teach the basics and are intended for both beginners and those more experienced.
“They (Wolf Fitness) approached us about doing a wellness series,” said recreation coordinator Sharon Chew, who added that the series is a first for the department. “We partner with them for our swim programs. They’re incredible, and it’s a great working relationship.”
Participants can register for one or both programs, select dates and purchase tickets at Wolf’s website, www.wolfmullicahill.com.
“It’s good for people who don’t want to commit to something but want to try something new,” Chew noted.
The goal of the series, according to Wolf Fitness, is for participants to recharge and relax and reconnect with nature. The sessions were created with women and mothers in mind, but men are also welcome.
“It’s right before the summer when kids are off,” Chew said. “It’s good for moms, since this gives them some moments of calm before their kids are off from school.”
Other upcoming events sponsored by the recreation commission for spring and summer include Cinco De Mayo for seniors, co-sponsored by Active Adults, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at Ewan Fire Hall; and Harrison Township Day, from 4 to 9 p.m., on Saturday, June 6, at Ella Harris.
Several summer camps for kids take place in late June and early July.
