Tractor rides, a K-9 demonstation and live music will be among the attractions at this year’s event on June 7.

Harrison Township Day will return to Ella Harris Park from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, with a variety of festivities and attractions that will invite guest participation.

The event will feature live music by a local band, Faultline, and recorded music by DJ Kev. Also on tap are a police K-9 demonstration with the department’s Dunkin’; a fire department barbecue with the station dog, Blaze; and a look inside a Cooper University medical helicopter. Harmony Fire Company will also provide a beer garden.

RE/MAX will sponsor a hot-air balloon to give guests brief rides. Weather permitting, magician Bill Kerwood will perform and several amusements and blow-ups will be available. New this year will be tractor rides from the South Jersey Gas Engine Club.

Most of the Harrison Township Day attractions – save for purchases from the beer garden, food trucks and craft vendors – are free, a credit, according to Recreation Coordinator Sharon Chew, to the event’s sponsors.

“A big shoutout to Inspira Mullica Hill,” she said of the hospital. “They are our gold sponsor supporter and they provide hugely for the event.”

Other sponsors include local businesses, including two Dunkin’ locations in Mullica Hill, and township officials.

“We get a lot of support from local organizations,” Chew noted. “Without their support, we would not be able to do it. It’s especially great because there are many families out there that are living paycheck to paycheck.”

The event will culminate with a fireworks display provided by Stags Leap Ranch Development, a Mullica Hill company involved in science and technical services.

“This event brings a lot of people from our town and other towns together,” Chew emphasized, “which brings a lot of exposure to the community. We expect around 4,000 people to attend. A lot of towns are pulling their community days, but we’re lucky to still have one.”
