Captain takes leave of police

Capt. Michael Cresong has retired from the township police department, the culmination of more than 25 years of dedicated service to the community.

Cresong began his Mount Laurel law-enforcement career in 2000, starting on patrol and advancing to the role of detective. Over the course of his career, he was promoted through the ranks and held numerous leadership positions, including sergeant, administrative sergeant, operations lieutenant and internal affairs lieutenant.

Cresong was sworn in as a captain in 2023. Upon his retirement last month, he was honored with a traditional pass and review ceremony that recognized his exemplary career, professional leadership and steadfast commitment to service.
