Moorestown Township plans to apply to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Acres program.

Since 1961, the program has protected well over a million-and-a-half acres of open space and provided hundreds of outdoor recreational facilities in the state. The township’s Green Acres application will pave the way for a Jake’s Law All-Inclusive Playground at Wesley Bishop Park, in compliance with the state Department of Community Affairs’ rules for recreational space.

Before it completes the application process, the township is requesting that residents offer their views on the playground and what recreation projects they think are necessary. The survey can be found at www.moorestown.nj.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=902 and will remain active until Friday, Jan. 3.
