To help residents better understand Phase 2 of the ongoing water main replacement project, Moorestown Township has scheduled a public presentation in Council Chambers at Town Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. Representatives from the township and Earle Construction (the contractor performing the work) will provide a brief presentation and remain available to answer questions. Project plans will also be available for review.
Residents who own or reside at a property along Chester Avenue will be impacted by a water main replacement project to take place this year. Affected residents should have recently received a letter providing a brief overview of the project and inviting you to attend a public meeting to learn more.
This water main is being replaced from Main Street to Bridgeboro Road (except for a portion between Second and Third Streets that was previously done). As part of this project, each water service line connecting a property to the main will be replaced from the main to the curb stop which is typically located within the right-of-way between the street and your home. While this work is somewhat weather dependent, a tentative start date of Tuesday, Jan. 20, has been set.
This project is considered Phase 2 of an overall project modernizing the utility infrastructure throughout town. Phase 1 involved replacement of the water main on Kings Highway and West Main Street from Lenola Road to Church Street that was completed during 2025. For those who travel that stretch of road, the work flow and detours described above should sound familiar since the same process was used for that phase. Future phases contemplate replacement of the main along Main Street from Church to Chester Avenue, and then further down Main Street to Poplar Avenue.
To keep residents informed, the township issues a virtual newsletter, “Moore News: Main Street Edition,” that provides regular updates on upcoming project work, detours and more. This newsletter was circulated on a near weekly basis during Phase 1 and was well received by residents.
