Meet Marla, Abby, Nova and Vixen are all up for adoption at the Burlington County Animal Alliance in Moorestown. For more information, visit www.bcaaofnj.org.
Marla

Marla is a Rat Terrier mix with a soft yellow coat who weighs about 21 pounds and is 6 to 7 years old. She ended up in an overcrowded shelter as an owner surrender with her two puppies.
Now safe in a foster home, Marla is settling into home life. She is house and crate trained, although she really doesn’t need a crate since she is such a well-behaved girl and doesn’t bother anything in the home. She is quiet, gentle and sweet. Her favorite place is on the couch right beside you.
She’s easygoing and not high energy at all, making her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a calm, loving dog to share their days with. She is fine with other dogs of all sizes.
Marla can be nervous when she first meets new people and needs a little time to warm up. It seems that someone may not have been very kind to her in the past, as she sometimes cowers or rolls onto her belly when unsure. But with soft words; patience; encouragement; and lots of love, she begins to relax and show her gentle, loving personality.
Abby

Meet Abby, an adorable Rat Terrier mix puppy looking for her forever home.
At four months old and around 10 pounds, she will likely be about 30 to 35 pounds when full grown. Her mom is a slender rat terrier mix.
Abby is a happy-go-lucky puppy who loves to play, romp around and enjoy life. Her sweet personality is already shining through. One of Abby’s most adorable features is the cutest black marking on her face that makes her extra special. And when she gives you her little head tilt, it’s truly to die for — she knows exactly how to melt hearts.
Abby has playful puppy energy and loves running around and playing. After she’s had some fun, she’s more than happy to crawl right into your lap for cuddles. She’s a very affectionate little lovebug who enjoys being close to her people.
Abby enjoys playing with other dogs and spending time with her humans. Like most puppies her age, she’s working on house training, crate training and learning what life in a home is all about.
Nova

Nova is a 1-year-old, 28-pound sweetheart with the softest soul. She is almost one-half Austrian shepherd and one-fourth Austrian cattle dog. The other one-fourth is a big mix.
Nova is an extremely timid girl who wants so badly to trust her people and cuddle up close; she just needs a calm, patient home to help her fully come out of her shell. Nova is still adjusting to life inside a home, so slow movements, gentle voices and a predictable routine will help her feel safe.
Once she feels comfortable, you’ll see Nova’s true personality shine, especially in the outdoors that she loves. That’s where she really comes alive. She would thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard where she can run and explore confidently.
Nova has spent time around children ages 6 to 12 and does wonderfully with gentle kids who respect her space. She is incredibly gentle when taking treats from both adults and children. Nova doesn’t quite know how to play with toys yet, so a calm, confident dog in the home could help teach her the ropes. She would do best with another mellow pet who won’t crowd her.
Nova is currently nervous around a cat who tries to chase and engage her, and while she has occasionally growled when her space isn’t respected, it’s simply because she feels overwhelmed. She is potty trained but will not yet signal when she needs to go out; she does well on a consistent schedule. Nova whines in her crate during the day due to some anxiety, but sleeps peacefully in her crate at night as long as it’s in the same room as her person.
She does experience some mild separation anxiety: She simply wants to be near her people as much as possible.
Vixen

Vixen is a young, playful mixed-breed girl who was rescued just in the nick of time right before the holidays. She weighs about 35 pounds and appears to be fully grown.
Vixen is currently heartworm positive and undergoing treatment, but all medical expenses are fully covered by the shelter. She will simply need a committed adopter willing to see her through the remainder of her care.
Vixen enjoys playing with toys, romping with her foster sisters, soaking up cuddles and earning treats. She has a medium energy level, balancing playful bursts with plenty of downtime, and is just as happy curling up next to you as she is playing. If Vixen’s future home has another dog, it would be best if that canine enjoys playtime as much as she does.
Vixen has been doing well with potty training and has handled meeting new people and other dogs nicely. She has not yet been around cats. She has an adorable, spunky personality and does a little hop with her front paws when she gets excited.
While she doesn’t love being crated, Vixen will willingly go in with a treat and may protest briefly, but she settles and behaves well without destroying anything.
