Friday, Nov. 21

ASL & Sensory Bin Play for children ages two and up at 10 a.m. Led by a licensed speech-language pathologist from Elevate Health, this program introduces young children to basic American Sign Language (ASL) through interactive, sensory-based bin play. While exploring the bins, children will be introduced to ASL vocabulary related to the theme, including greetings, key signs and farewells. Each session features a themed sensory bin designed to support language development, cognitive growth and fine motor skills. Register on the library website.

Alzheimer’s New Jersey: Understanding Dementia 1 p.m. Attendees will learn the difference between normal aging and dementia, as well as the different stages of the disease and some caregiving strategies. Register on the library website.

Artist Reception: Marjorie Scheier 2 p.m. The late Scheier’s work has been featured in solo, group and juried exhibitions. Her work has been represented in galleries and has been selected for open-space permanent collections in Philadelphia. Her artwork will be featured in the library’s Community Art Gallery throughout December.

Sunday, Dec. 7

Scavenger hunt for children 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Mosaic Society of Philadelphia Talk: “Exploring Tuscany and Painting with Glass” 1:30 p.m. Five Mosaic Society of Philadelphia members traveled to Tuscany to see what they could learn about painting with glass. Come hear from the group as they share their photos, artwork and experiences. Refreshments will be provided. Register on the library website.
