The activity will be dance fitness.
The Pathfinders Series – sponsored by the Moorestown Education Association – is now in its second year, and is a youth-led, community-based free event featuring student volunteers.
“The goal for the students is to get them to learn so that as they grow older, those with an interest in medicine might be the next one to pursue a career to help get more information out to possibly lead us to a better quality of life or maybe even a cure,” said Spring Williams, founder and president of Inspiring Life Together. “Breast cancer diagnoses are increasing in younger women. Many of these women are mothers or may be younger women who haven’t been able to enjoy a full life. We would like to bring awareness to our community, while preparing students to be the next leaders in the medical field.”
Through education and resources focused on mental, physical and emotional wellness, Inspiring Life Together aims to equip women and their families with the strategies they need to navigate breast cancer and reclaim their sense of self-worth. Inspiring Life Together is not only a place for wellness but also a space for supporting one another, learning and growth.
Williams, a biology and environmental science teacher at Moorestown High School, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. The support she received from her community inspired her to collaborate with others to establish Inspiring Life Together. Following her diagnosis, Williams noticed that her students wanted to do something to help support her, so the organization created its Pathfinders Series.
“This is part of our curriculum, not breast cancer specifically, but just learning about what cancer is and learning about the genetics that could possibly be associated with it,” Williams explained. “Some of the students are interested in the medical profession, so what better way than to use something that I had direct experience with as a springboard to bring education to them, and give them a real-life example and project so that they can grow themselves and so that they can teach others?”
