Cambridge Enhanced Senior Living has named Erika Gagliardi its new executive director.
Gagliardi’s career in the senior living sector spans 14 years, including a stint as director of memory care and activities at Cambridge.
“I have always been interested in providing seniors with care and comfort,” she explained. “I majored in human services in college with the intention of working with at-risk children. But after completing an internship at a senior living community, I knew that serving the geriatric population was the right path for me.”
Gagliardi’s own family struggled to care for a loved one with memory loss, an experience that greatly influenced her career choice.
“My grandmother developed dementia at a young age and passed away when I was 10 years old,” Gagliardi recalled. “Witnessing my mother’s challenges and compassion in caring for her made me want to make a difference, to implement change and help make life better for those with the disease.”
Cambridge will give Gagliardi the opportunity to lead the community while she remains hands-on.
“I enjoy being involved with residents, getting to know family members and helping staff on the floor,” she said. “From the front desk concierge to the dining-room staff, every interaction that every staff member has is important – and their dedication and compassion shine through.”
