First Methodist Church Moorestown’s second annual Apple Festival will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, at 4:30 p.m. Parking will be in the church parking lot. Festival entrances (on foot) will be from Kings Highway, Pleasant Valley Avenue and Camden Avenue.
“We were blown away last year with the community support,” said co-Chair Lisa Kulp (additional co-chairs include Devika Gill and Nicole McGough). “We had almost 1,000 people touched by this event and we are planning for even more people this year.
“So, we are really looking forward to that and we are prepared and we’re ready to expand this.”
The entry fee is $8 per adult and $6 per child (under 10 years old). Children under 3 years old are free. Guests can also choose an entry fee of $25 per family (up to five people). Entry includes a Southern “fried” apple dessert with cake and ice cream; a bounce house, balloon art and face painting; crafts and yard games; inflatable axe throwing, kids’ crafts and Henna tattoos; a variety of music by local performers; a magic show; a selfie photo station; and story time with a Moorestown librarian.
“There’s definitely something for everybody,” Kulp said of the festival. “We know that the community loves coming out to things like this. Every aspect of the church is involved and working on it, and many hands make light work. There’s new people involved this year, and more people are baking cakes… It’s been a lot of fun.”
Additional items for purchase include Kona Ice apple slushies; coffee/apple cider and more; caramel apples; picnic food (hamburgers, cheeseburgers, veggie burgers and hot dogs); apple cider donuts from Russo’s Farm and other baked goods with apples; farm market items including mums, apple cider and apples by the bag from Folks Farm in Moorestown (pre-orders available); and a variety of hand-crafted items.
“We met the objective (last year), which is what Moorestown is so good at – getting people together in the community,” Kulp said of the 2024 Apple Festival. “It’s fellowship with your family and your neighbors and your friends.
“That’s why we do it.”
