The Friends Enrichment Program (FEP) of Moorestown will host its annual monarch butterfly workshop in the Moorestown Friends Meetinghouse on Sunday at 11 a.m. The free event is open to the public.

Presented by environmentalist and nature enthusiast Glenn Curtis, this interactive workshop will give participants the opportunity to examine monarch butterfly eggs, pick up caterpillars and look at chrysalises in which caterpillars undergo their incredible metamorphosis into monarch butterflies.

For the grand finale, the group will step outside and, one by one, the newborn butterflies will be released, soon to begin pollinating the farms and gardens of South Jersey until the time comes to begin their 2,000-mile journey South to the Oyamel forests of Mexico.

The FEP is a Quaker based volunteer program with a mission to help financially disadvantaged Moorestown children by providing them with scholarship opportunities and life-enhancing activities at no cost to their parents. Since its inception, the program has raised more than $400,000 and given out more than 1,200 scholarships to over 500 children.
