The Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education has welcomed Amanda Fitchett as a member who will represent her native Medford.
Fitchett won the seat over incumbent Jennifer Levas in the November election. She brings to the board a passion for the district as an alumnus and a teacher with 13 years of experience. She has spent the last seven years at Shawnee High School in the special education and science departments.
“I’m truly honored to be elected by our community to represent Medford Township on the Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education,” she said. “Grounded in my hands-on work with families, students and staff, I’m committed to advancing student success in an ever-evolving world.”
Longtime district board member David Stow – who also represents Medford – helped with Fitchett’s orientation.
“We are excited about having Amanda join us as a member of the Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education,” Stow remarked, citing the ongoing issue of state funding cuts.
Fitchett has lived in Medford for 12 years with her husband and two children and is a 2000 graduate of Cherokee High School. As an educator at Shawnee, Fitchett has planned, organized and executed professional development for staff based on her areas of expertise working with students with special needs.
Fitchett also shares her passion and knowledge as an adjunct professor at Camden County College, where she teaches in the elementary and secondary education departments.
Sam Green will now be the board’s president, representing Shamong Township.
“I am honored and excited to serve as the next board president,” said Green. “My intention is to continue to build on the legacy of those who came before me and always strive towards making (Lenape) among the best districts in the state of New Jersey.”
