The Evesham Township Police Department (ETPD) is recruiting for the position of part-time Special Law Enforcement Officer l (SLEO).

The SLEO l Position is a part time position designed to provide young adults with experience in the law enforcement field before progressing to a part time SLEO II or full-time officer. Their responsibilities include, provide for traffic and pedestrian control, court security, assist with walk-in complaints, assist with the processing of prisoners, community policing details, enforce title 39 violations and have the power to issue summons for disorderly persons and petty disorderly persons offenses, as well as other similar assignments/duties and provide assistance to the department during unusual or emergency circumstances.

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or its equivalency, be at least 18 years of age, be of good moral character and able to read and write the English language. Applicants must be able to obtain a New Jersey Police Training Commission SLEO I Police Officer certification, by attending a SLEO I Police Training Academy approved by the New Jersey Police Training Commission. Preference will be given to applicants who possess a SLEO I certification.
