
The Evesham Township Board of Education presented certificates of recognition for student accomplishments at its regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27.
The Marlton Middle School wrestling team was recognized for an undefeated season and for winning the South Jersey Middle School Wrestling League Championship, the first time the school has won that championship in 14 years.
Team coaches John DelVecchio and Matthew Kuhlow announced the following students: Eli Bluestein, Solomon Bluestein, Harper Booth, Trevor Brewer, Connor Brown, Anthony Butch, Luke Cheesman, Luke Corson, Austin Cox, Michael DeCicco, Jaxon DeMarco, Brian Ford, Jr, Leonard Fusco, Hayden Groves, Ky’Air Hammock, Mika Holownia, Joseph Imperiale Jr., Blaydin Landschoot, Drew Lanzilotta, Asher Miller, Noah Miller, Chris Nnawuihe, Leo Nnawuihe, Ryan Shultz, Halid Takmakli, Jack Thompson, Logan Tierney and team managers Alexis Lyons and Olivia McNee.
DelVecchio commended the team’s work ethic and expressed his and Kuhlow’s gratitude for the players’ efforts throughout the season.
“On behalf of myself and Coach Kuhlow, we just want to thank our team this year,” DelVecchio said. “No team that we’ve had has ever worked this hard or wanted it this much. They’re a true example of what we do here in the township and I and (Kuhlow) could not be any prouder of each and every one of them.”
DeMasi Middle School teacher Madelaine Goldman, Principal Beverly Green and the following students were recognized for successfully earning placement in the Olympic Honors Band: Luna Alessandra Cabrera, Leah Frangella and Samuel Hasan.
For successfully earning placement in the All Burlington County Middle School Honors Band, Jackson Hunter, Preston Lightfoot and Jason Zemaitatis were presented certificates. Vihaan Khare and Casey Leisse were cited for their placement in the Olympic Honors Band as well as the South Jersey Honors Band.
Marlton Middle School teacher Mark White, Principal Gary Hoffman, and students Karen Guo, Anthony Hughes and Carly Ridley were also cited for placement in South Jersey Honors Band, as were Dylan Coffina and Elaine Eckhart, who also placed in the Olympic Honors Band.
“Congratulations to the athletes and musicians,” school Superintendent Dr. Justin Smith said. “We’re very proud of all of you.”
The next scheduled board meeting will include the adoption of the district’s 2025-’26 tentative budget at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 17, at Marlton Middle School.
