Evesham Mayor Jaclyn Veasy was sworn in as the third vice president of the New Jersey State League of Municipalities last month.

The nonprofit New Jersey State League of Municipalities is non-partisan and was created to help communities do a better job of self-government by pooling information resources and brainpower. It has benefitted local officials throughout the state since 1915, and more than 560 mayors and 13,000 government officials are entitled to its services.

Veasy is in her second term as township mayor, only the second woman to be elected to that position and the first to win reelection. She serves with organizations that include the Burlington County Bridge Commission, the county Board of Social Services and the county’s Women’s Advisory Board.

The mayor has also been a long-time volunteer in the township and was a committee member for the Relay for Life of Marlton to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. She also remains an active member of the St. Joan of Arc Parish.

Veasy attended Rutgers University and earned a bachelor’s degree in American Studies. She currently works in the insurance industry.
