Earlier this month, Evesham Mayor Jackie Veasy and councilwoman Dr. Krystal Hunter visited fifth-grade students at Marlton Elementary as part of the school’s lessons on local government. Veasy and Hunter discussed some of the main responsibilities of elected officials, such as crafting local ordinances and overseeing the annual municipal budget. They also spoke about township services, including police, public works and parks. The visit concluded with the two women presenting certificates of achievement to members of the school’s student government and asking them about plans to make their school even better.
