Sixty-two Lenape High students were inducted into the Business Education Society, where courses range from accounting to video game design.

The Lenape High School’s Business Honor Society for high-achievers in business education recently inducted 62 students.

Any high-school student who has completed or is currently enrolled in a third business course and has earned the final grade of A is eligible. Additional requirements are:

  • – Students must be on credit status and have no more than one suspension during their time at Lenape.
  • – Suspensions due to tardiness to school will not count against them.
  • – No academic suspensions, such as plagiarism, cheating on a major exam, etc.
  • – Must attend the night of the induction ceremony.

Once a student is established as a member of the society, they are expected to uphold the above requirements. Violations may result in removal. Business education courses at Lenape High range from accounting and business law to digital animation and video game design.

“Tonight is very special for the business education department, as we induct 62 new members into this elite society,” said Lenape’s Assistant Principal, Joseph De Julius, during opening remarks at the induction. “It is also a very special moment for me, as I have the privilege of supervising the department after teaching business education for 11 years.”

Other staff at the event that De Julius commended were Christina Iaunucci, Stephanie Novello, Michael Smith, Christopher Stall, Richard Thaw, Lou Waldorf and Dina Wolf.

“Please join me in thanking all of our teachers for all that they do in behalf of our students,” said De Julius. “In today’s rapidly growing and changing economy, students need to cope not only with the complexities of academics, but the practical necessities of saving and investing, handling consumer and credit issues, and operating a business.”

With more than 20 courses and two career and technical organizations to choose from, students in Lenape’s business education program learn life skills necessary for economic success, use technology to access and create information, expand their educational opportunities, develop marketable skills and habits to apply to any career, acquire international business knowledge, foster an entrepreneurial attitude and broaden their lifelong work and study options.

“Tonight’s inductees represent excellence in business and we are pleased to recognize them,” De Julius noted.

“I’d like to express the business department’s pride in seeing so many students inducted into the Lenape Business Honors Society,” remarked Wolf, a business teacher and school advisor. “This is a special occasion where we recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding dedication, integrity and achievement in the field of business.”

Wolf also noted that each inductee will receive a certificate of achievement, and senior inductees will get an honor cord – or tassel – to wear around their necks during graduation. Underclassmen will receive theirs in senior year. The cords are meant to signify academic achievement, honor-society membership or specialized extracurricular accomplishments.

“This year, we proudly participated in a toy drive to support children at a local children’s hospital, demonstrating that leadership in business also means making a positive impact in our community,” Wolf observed.

Students inducted were Rafa Hussein, Logan Leon, Cole Marlin, Giovanni Medina, Bradley Wheeler, Elijah Barr, Sophie Bondarenko, Brooks Bryant, Mason Catlet, Saatviik Dinesh, Kate Foley, Connor Ganatra, Brett Halfpenny, Amal James, Sienna Jojo, Riya Kansagra, Ifnet Karav, Ava Koenig, Lily Maletesta, Noah Meyer, John Myers, Akhil Nalamalapu, Sean Patel, Carly Phillips, Kellen Pierce, Reagan Pleasant, Jack Senecal, Levi Shaman, Aaron Smith, Zachary Thomas, Brianna Toro, Keren Waddle, Braden Yost, Taylor Babnu, William Bunting, Logan Cleary, Emily Cooper, Chase Dylanbeck, Samantha Elk, Gabriel Ferrara, Zoya Hawk, Nathan Kwan, Logan Monahan, Brendan Murphy, Antonio Pettiford, Matthew Plasner, Anthony Roberts, and Gabriella Rosada.
