Free program for dementia caregivers

Evesham Township’s Senior Citizen Advisory Committee is hosting a free Brunch & Learn program with Samaritan Life Enhancing Care at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the Gibson House Community Center.

Part one of the program will focus on caregivers and dementia, as presented by Christina Rubano, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). Issues covered will include simplifying communication, creating a safe environment, establishing routine and engagement, using positive language, prioritizing emotional support and caregiver well-being.

Part two focus on volunteer opportunities at Samaritan, as presented by Erika Thomas. Points to be covered will include social connections, volunteering from home, social isolation and the importance of connection and the impact of robotic pet companions for patience with dementia.
