Clearview Regional High School graduated 355 seniors on June 18, a hot and windy day that could not contain the excitement of students, faculty, staff and families as they watched the 2026 class get diplomas.

Student speakers reminisced about their time as Pioneers, what their school journey was like and what awaits them in the next stage of their lives.

“Four years ago, we entered high school as strangers,” said salutatorian Alex Meader. “Not only to one another, but in many ways to ourselves. We arrived carrying aspirations not yet realized, insecurities not yet overcome and questions not yet answered.

“Some searched for purpose, while some searched for acceptance,” he added. “Most of us, just one way or another, searched for where we belonged. But perhaps belonging was something never to be found.”

“It feels like not too long ago,” recalled class president Ella Gandy. “I was a nervous freshman, handing out Smarties in hopes that people would ‘be a Smartie and vote for Ella.’ And now we are here, about to graduate.

“If I’ve learned one thing from high school that I could pass on, it’s that bribery works.”

Clearview Principal Thomas Jones praised the graduates for their hard work and dedication. He also acknowledged teachers and administrators who helped guide and mentor them on their journey.

“Look around,” Jones said to the students. “Take in the moment. It is all yours. Over the past six years at Clearview Regional, you have impressed us with your immense and diverse talents. You have faced challenges head on, embraced new ideas and demonstrated a commitment to continuing and building upon the academic excellence embodied at Clearview.”

Board of education members took turns handing out diplomas as friends and families cheered their graduates. Valedictorian Emma Van Gemert then addressed her classmates – and got a little emotional in the process.

“Tonight we are celebrating an end to our high-school career,” she noted. “It has taught us how to live.”
