Haddonfield held this year’s municipal election on May 13. As of May 15, results remain unofficial, though preliminary numbers have been released. The borough has more than 10,500 registered voters.
All three of the borough’s commissioner seats were up for election this year, with Dave Siedell and Frank Troy running for reelection. Mayor Colleen Bianco Bezich opted not to run for the seat she has held since 2019.
Four candidates were running for the three seats, including the two incumbents and Haddonfield residents Itir Cole and Bill Shanahan. The borough holds elections for commissioner seats every four years, with all three seats up for election. Once the commissioners are elected, the board chooses one to serve as mayor.
The preliminary results show Siedell leading with 2,198 votes in his race for reelection, followed by fellow incumbent Troy, with 2,134 votes. The race for the third commissioner seat remains close; Cole leads by 39 votes and has received a total of 1,979 votes. Shanahan had 1,940 votes at last count. Another 199 votes were write-ins.
Vote counting is ongoing and remains unknown until official results are certified and announced to the public.
The terms for the three current commissioners are set to expire on May 20, meaning new members should take office on May 21. A commissioner work session is currently scheduled for May 19, according to the borough’s website calendar. While there is not yet word on what topics the session will include, it likely involves reorganization in some capacity as the new set of commissioners takes control of the board.
