(Trenton) – Route 30 is scheduled to have lane closures in two sections – one eastbound and one westbound – on Thursday night to implement traffic shifts, as the Route 30, Cooper Street to Grove Street resurfacing project advances in Camden, Pennsauken, and Collingswood, Camden County. In addition, the Route 30 eastbound exit ramp to Memorial Drive is scheduled to be closed and detoured. In the event of inclement weather, work will take place the following night.
Route 30 eastbound Lane Closures
Beginning at 8 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, March 26 until 6 a.m. Friday, March 27, Route 30 eastbound is scheduled to have two lanes closed just after the North 10th Street overpass to approximately Bank Street in Camden. At least one lane will be maintained overnight, and the Cooper Street ramp onto Route 30 eastbound will remain open. The closure is necessary to restripe the roadway and place concrete construction barrier curb. By 6 a.m. Friday, March 27, all three lanes of traffic will be reopened and shifted to the left toward the center median to create a work zone on the right side for guiderail replacement, curb work, and drainage improvements. The ramp from Cooper Street onto Route 30 eastbound will have a stop sign before merging onto Route 30. Motorists are reminded to slow down and use caution in work zones.
Route 30 eastbound Exit to Memorial Avenue Closure
In addition, beginning at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, March 26, the Route 30 eastbound ramp to Memorial Avenue before the Federal Street overpass is scheduled to be closed and detoured for several months. The closure is necessary for road and bridge work. The following detour will be in place:
Route 30 eastbound Exit to Memorial Avenue Detour:
- Motorists wishing to take the Route 30 eastbound exit to Memorial Avenue will be directed to continue on Route 30 eastbound
- After passing the Federal Street overpass, traffic in the right lane will be able to turn right onto Memorial Avenue
The ramp from Memorial Avenue onto Route 30 eastbound will have a stop sign before merging onto Route 30 eastbound. The right lane on Route 30 eastbound starting at the Memorial Avenue ramp will be closed for bridge and road work. Three lanes of traffic will be maintained. This pattern will be in place for several months for road and bridge work
Route 30 westbound Lane Closures
Beginning at 8 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, March 26 until 6 a.m. Friday, March 27, Route 30 westbound is scheduled to have lane closures from 17th Street to Linden Street in Camden. At least one lane will be maintained overnight.
The closures are necessary for restriping. By 6 a.m. Friday, March 27, the right lane on Route 30 westbound between 17th Street and Linden Street will be closed for several months with three lanes open. The closure is necessary for guiderail replacement, curb work, and drainage improvements.
In addition, beginning at 8 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, March 26, the right lane on Route 30 westbound is scheduled to be closed from Haddon Avenue across the bridge to North Park Avenue. The closure is necessary to restripe the road and install construction barrier. This traffic pattern will be in place for several months to reconstruct a portion of the bridge and to install a new barrier along the curb.
The work is part of the $49.6 million Route 30, Cooper Street to Grove Street resurfacing project that will resurface approximately six miles of Route 30 to extend the useful life of the pavement in both directions from near the Cooper Street on-ramp to Route 30 eastbound in Camden through Pennsauken, Collingswood, Oaklyn, Haddon Township, Audubon, to Grove Street in Haddon Heights, Camden County.
The project also will upgrade 14 traffic signals, upgrade pedestrian push buttons and signal heads, install ADA-compliant curb ramps, repair sidewalks and curbs as needed, improve guiderail, and install underground Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) conduit and wiring. The project includes bridge deck and joint repairs where needed, the installation of a pedestrian separation barrier on the bridges over Cooper River at mile posts 1.79 and 3.61, and will provide connectivity to the multi-use bike path that crosses North Park Drive and the Bridge over the Cooper River.
