As part of its ongoing efforts to manage rising costs while maintaining essential services, the borough will transition from Waste Management to Suburban Disposal Inc. for residential trash collection beginning Monday, Sept. 1.

Waste Management, the current provider, proposed a 216% increase over their existing rate, citing various operational factors. Suburban Disposal submitted a bid slightly below the borough’s current cost. Under public contracting regulations, Haddonfield is required to award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder.

Suburban Disposal will handle trash collection only, while the borough continues to manage recycling services separately. Suburban is the largest municipal hauler in New Jersey, servicing 57 municipalities. It is a family-owned and operated business led by the Roselle family.

Key details for residents:

  • Start date: Monday, Sept. 1
  • Pickup time: Beginning at 7 a.m.
  • Reminder: Put trash cans out the night before collection day.
