The Better Together Advisory Committee has initiated a survey to gauge how residents view Moorestown as a welcoming, inclusive community.
The survey – which began in 2020 – is open to people who live, work and visit the township. It will be available online and in a hard copy available at town hall until Sept. 30. Those who need assistance in completing the survey can request that a committee member contact them.
All results are anonymous unless participants choose to leave their name and/or email.
“It’s a very short survey (three to five minutes) and if people have something to say, they have a space to say it and I think it’s going to be successful,” said committee member Danielle Zukowski. “We want to hear if (someone) has a suggestion or an event, because we try to create events and we don’t know what’s missing.
“So this is going to give us the idea of what might be missing, what we can do and how we can fill that in.”
The Better Together Advisory Committee is a group that advises council. It was established in 2021 to raise awareness of other cultures, ethnicities, abilities and identities. Each year, it organizes the annual Juneteenth flag raising and the Pride Month flag raising at town hall.
The committee also organized the dedication of Armydis Sordin Park and the rededication of Yancy Adams Park, and was a driving force in the township’s first National Night Out in 2024, an event that is nationwide and continues to grow.
Survey results and a related presentation to council are available on the township website. The creation of the questionnaire led to the introduction of the committee and inception of community events designed to celebrate township history and culture.
This year’s survey is a shortened version of the original one. Its results will be analyzed and made available on the township website. Exact timelines will be determined.
“It’s your opportunity to tell how you feel about living in Moorestown,” noted committee member Anne Marie Inglis. “And because it’s being sponsored through town council and a town council-related advisory committee, the information will get back to the township, to the people who have an opportunity to make an impact and change something.”
Members of the Better Together Advisory Committee will be at Moorestown Day, the Juneteenth flag raising, the Perkins Center for the Arts’ Juneteenth celebration, food truck nights, National Night Out, the Strawbridge Lake paddle board and kayak race and additional events to explain more about the survey in person.
