After an executive session at the meeting, Toner announced committee chairs. Board members will rotate in alphabetical order as borough council liaison and the liaison’s reports will be added to meetings.

Austin will chair the finance and physical plant; Dickinson will chair the human resources committee; Campbell will head the policy and curriculum committees; and Kate Allen-Yoakum will lead strategic planning.

Campbell will continue her role as delegate to the Burlington County School Boards Association and Erika Celley will serve as delegate to the New Jersey School Boards Association. Jennifer Mossgrove will serve as the alternate delegate.

The Palmyra school district is hiring a new superintendent who will begin the position on or about July 1. The board of education in September approved funds for the New Jersey School Boards Association to conduct a superintendent search at a cost of $7,000. Mark Pease has served as interim superintendent since September 2023, after former superintendent Brian McBride left the district.

The district held parent and community input sessions for the search and collected opinions of all stakeholders that are included in the job posting.

The district is “seeking an innovative, community-minded leader with a deep commitment to education and equity,” the posting states. “Our tight-knit district, home to 1,050 preK-12 students and 125 dedicated staff members is supported by a budget of $27.5 million.”

The board has scheduled special meetings on Tuesday, Jan 14; Thursday, Jan. 16; Wednesday, Jan. 22; and Thursday, Jan. 23 for superintendent interviews. Two meetings are scheduled for early February if necessary.
