Brian Cope was sworn in as a Ward 3 councilman. He previously served as director of parks and recreation for the township.
The Monroe Township Council has reorganized with some familiar and new faces.
During council’s reorganization meeting on Jan. 6, Albert “Al” Rossi was sworn in as Ward 1 councilman; Carolann Fox as Ward 2 councilwoman; Brian Cope as Ward 3 councilman; and John Valentine, the lone Republican on the dais, as Ward 4 councilman.
Rossi, Cope and Valentine are beginning their first four-year terms, while Fox is starting her second. The meeting also saw Councilman Donald Heverly appointed president and Denise Adams vice president.
Heverly thanked his fellow council members for having faith in him to head council.
“I promise I won’t let you down,” he said. “It’s not a position I take lightly. I do consider it a blessing to work for this township and serve the people of this township, because it’s a pretty great place to live.”
Other appointments at the meeting included a new director of parks and recreation.
“That was a seat that was vacated by now Councilman Brian Cope …” explained Mayor Greg Wolfe. “Joe Bruno will do a fantastic job as well.”
The mayor also noted that he looks forward to the new year.
“We have accomplished so much in the last two years,” he pointed out, “and we are looking to accomplish much more in this coming year.”
The township announced on its Facebook page that the public can now watch every council, zoning and planning board meeting on its YouTube channel, Monroe Township Municipality @monroetownshipnjorg.
