Medford police swear in three new officers

Three police officers were ceremoniously sworn in at a Medford Township council meeting on Nov. 19.

Police Chief Arthur Waterman said the hiring of the three officers is the result of an updated hiring process that welcomes officers of notable strength. The new officers were hired in January after graduation from the Cape May County Police Academy in June.

Stephen Durbano grew up in Marlton. When he was young he played many sports including wrestling, football, baseball and hockey. He attended Cherokee High School and graduated in 2009. Prior to the start of his law enforcement career, he worked as a laboratory technician, including seven years at the University of Delaware. His hobbies include traveling, the gym and skydiving. He has a total jump count of 1,362, Waterman said.

Carlos Perez grew up in Massachusetts. While growing up, he liked to work with cars and ride dirt bikes. He graduated high school in 2018 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps as motor transport operator, spent four years in active duty and spent time overseas. Upon transitioning out of the Marine Corps, he moved to New Jersey and began his law enforcement career. In his free time, he enjoys driving motorcycles, and spending time with friends, family and his dog.

Ryan Fullmer grew up in Woolwich Township. While growing up he enjoyed playing sports, attended Kingsway Regional High School and graduated in 2017. He began college at Stockton University and is a 2021 graduate. He worked a full-time job while pursuing job as a law enforcement officer. In his spare time, he likes golfing, working out and spending time with friends and family.
