The Medford Knights Charity Fund hosted its 18th annual charity golf tournament, raising $75,000 for three local charities.
Medford Knights Charity Fund raised more than $75,000 for local organizations that essentially “treats every man, woman, and child in our communities with respect, dignity, and compassion,” said Bill Schmidt, who co-chaired the event.
The funds were raised in the nonprofit corporation’s recent annual charity golf tournament in its 18th year at the Medford Lakes Country Club for Medford’s Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Family Promise of Burlington County, and 1st Way of Burlington County.
“We invite local business owners and golfers to ‘chip in for charity’ to support these vital organizations,” Schmidt said ahead of the tournament.
With 125 volunteers, the St. Mary of the Lakes Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul operates a food pantry, a thrift store, and a ministry office and caring center that fields about 50 calls per week from people in need. Over the past year, the Conference provided over 14,000 bags of food, rent assistance to over 120 families, financial assistance for numerous car repairs, utility bills paid as well as gift cards, clothing, and emotional support to families in need.
Founded in 1997, Family Promise of Burlington County is a non-profit interfaith organization with three primary programs: Eviction Prevention, Emergency Shelter, and Transitional Housing. Programs come with comprehensive case management by a social worker to maximize the likelihood of permanent, stable housing for the family. Since its inception, Family Promise has assisted 500 families and over 1,000 children.
1st Way of Burlington County helps any woman or girl with an unplanned pregnancy find medical, legal, or psychological help as well as shelter, education, or adoption guidance. 1st Way provides free resources which support life affirming choices through a loving, non-judgement approach with peer counseling, education, and practical services. Over the past year, 1st Way has served over 3,400 families with the generous support of over 300 donations (diapers, wipes, baby wash, lotions, formula, playpens and clothing).
The event had more than 35 Event, Gold, Silver, and Bronze sponsors. The four Event Sponsors were: Healthcare Stakeholders Solutions LLC, The Law Office of David J. Karbasian, PC, Zallie’s Fresh Kitchen at ShopRite of Medford and Cornerstone PEO.
The event saw 144 golfers, 34 dinner guests, dozens of volunteers, 30 boosters, and 55 local businesses and merchants who donated items for the raffles and prizes, and local golf courses that donated foursomes for auction, all of whom “chipped in for charity” to make our annual tournament an overwhelming success.
Barlow Chevrolet and Burns Honda provided chances to win hole in one prizes.
