Inmate charged in fatal shooting

An incarcerated Delran man has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a Mount Laurel resident in 2016, according to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Willingboro Police Chief Ian S. Bucs.

Ronny Paden, 31, was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose inside Bayside State Prison in Leesburg, where he is incarcerated on unrelated charges, according to a prosecutor’s office press release on March 24.

The investigation revealed that on April 15, 2016 at approximately 3:15 a.m., Colby Rodgers, 31, was shot multiple times while sitting in the driver’s seat of a Kia Optima on Woodhaven Lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that he and Paden were acquaintances who had a falling out prior to the shooting, according to the prosecutor.
