Three Jefferson Health Department of Nursing employees in New Jersey received annual Nursing Scholarships through the Magnet-designated healthcare organization. The three — employed at Jefferson Stratford Hospital and Jefferson Washington Township Hospital — were chosen by the Nursing Selection Committee based on their academic achievements and support of Jefferson’s mission, vision, and values.
Each year, Jefferson offers various nursing scholarships: an Entry-Level Non-RN Scholarship, open to all clinical and non-clinical employees aspiring for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree; the Gartzman Fund RN-to-BSN Scholarship; and the Leadership Scholarship, open to current BSN- and MSN-level nurses aspiring to earn a Master’s (MSN) or Doctorate in Nursing (DNP) degree.
2024 Scholarship Recipients:
- Entry-Level Non-RN Scholarship: Elisha Reddick, of Sicklerville; unit secretary in the Jefferson Stratford Hospital 4-East Unit, who is studying for her nursing degree through Rutgers-Camden School of Nursing.
- Gartzman Fund RN-to-BSN Scholarship: Dianna Curtis, of Hainesport; clinical nurse at Jefferson Stratford Hospital Emergency Department, who is obtaining her BSN through Southern University A&M College.
- Leadership Scholarship: Kristen English, of Swedesboro; nurse manager at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital Intermediate Care Unit, who is obtaining her DNP through LaSalle University College of Nursing.
Jefferson employees, the Gartzman family, and other generous donors support these nursing scholarships. The Gartzman Fund Scholarship is in memory of young, then-Kennedy Health physician Alan Gartzman, who was killed in 1985 while driving home from visiting a long-term care patient.
“Jefferson is committed to promoting lifelong learning and professional development,” said Jefferson Health – East Region Chief Nursing Officer Diane Juliano. “We are thrilled to offer these scholarships and are very grateful for our donors’ generosity, which makes these scholarships possible.”
