The Palmyra board of education recognized the district’s teachers and educational services professionals of the year at a board meeting on Jan. 21.
“Our educators of the year truly reflect what makes Palmyra special,” school Superintendent Florencia Norton said. “They build strong relationships with students, push them to grow and care deeply about this community. As superintendent, I see the impact of their work every day in our classrooms and across the district, and I am proud to celebrate them.”
Educators of the year:
- Palmyra preschool teacher of the year: Kristen Holcomb. She teaches preschool and has been with the district for 18 years.
- Palmyra Preschool Educational Services professional of the year: Hilary Franklin-Weaver. She is a paraprofessional and has been with the district for six years.
- Charles Street School teacher of the year: Danielle Watson. She is an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher who has been with the district for two years.
- Charles Street School educational services professional of the year: Ryan Hoffecker. He is a paraprofessional and has been with the district for two years.
- Palmyra High School/Middle School teacher of the year: Laurel Deming. She is a math teacher who has been with the district for six years.
- Palmyra High School/Middle School educational services professional of the year: Kathy McClure. She is the school nurse and has been with the district for 22 years.
The educators were nominated and selected for the prestigious honor by a committee of teachers, parents and administrators. In addition, the district’s teachers of the year will be submitted as candidates for both the Burlington County educator of the year award and the governor’s educator of the year.
